Each gathering will be attended by more than 100 young people from all over the country, it is expected to reach 600 people. The aim of those events is to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and volunteerism focusing on achieving SDGs and improving services. Those events will help in selecting 200 young potential entrepreneurs to participate in full training events using Design Thinking methodology and Business Model Canvas in order to present their ideas in the Innovation for Development Forum 2017.
Social Good Summit 2016 in the Arab States
The Summit is an annual event that takes place as world leaders come together at the United Nations General Assembly to discuss global issues and ways in which to tackle them. Recognizing that the voices and ideas of concerned global citizens connected by social media and technology can be powerful forces for change, Mashable, 92nd Street Y, the United Nations Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme partner to host the Social Good Summit to expand the UN conversations to include innovators, activists and entrepreneurs around the world.
This year’s theme – #2030NOW: Connecting Today, Creating Tomorrow – challenges speakers, participants and a growing worldwide community to explore how technology, digital media and collaboration across borders can be leveraged to address the world’s most important and longstanding issues, benefiting people everywhere and helping to build a better future for all.

Description: In celebration of the Social Good Summit, UNDP Egypt in partnership with the Egypt Foundation for Youth and Development, Microsoft Egypt and Bibliotheca Alexandrina, would like to invite youth in Alexandria (18 – 29) to a 3-day intensive game design workshop to:
- Learn the fundamentals of game design
- Learn how to apply game design principles in tackling local challenges in your community
- Work in a team to produce an original game prototype that addresses an environmental problem
UNDP Egypt’s very own “Game Changer Fellows” will be facilitating the workshop. The last day of the workshop will open for play-testing where around 35 people will come play-test the games on the last day.

The mentioned topics will be elaborated into Challenges to Peace and Prosperity in the Lebanese Society, Discrimination Sowing the seeds of polarization and violence , accountability and how well does the State and Society in Lebanon adhere to its principles, Individual and collective rights and how media makes it or breaks it.
SGS in Somalia

This year, the Theme of UNDP Somalia Social good summit is ‘’the role of media in the development’’. Community leaders, guest members from Habo community, our partners in Puntland and a videos journalist, who made the story of the community, will come together to discuss the role of media in the development, and how a video story of a community in eastern Somalia coastal town, called Habo had changed the lives of the community.

UNDP Yemen will participaite in the UN Social Good Summit 2016 with the theme of “Peace Making” under the 16th Sustainable Development Goal, namely “Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions”. This event will be held on the 19th of September in which different participants, including Private Sector; Civil Society Organizations; Academics; Think Tankers; development practitioners and UN, will discuss the current situation of the country due to the ongoing war. The speakers will present the impact of the crisis on the thematic areas covering socio-economic, roles of the private sector and CSOs as well as peace building process which will include reconstruction, state building and social peace. This panel discussion will help in enriching the crafting of UN Bridging Framework that will lead to the articulation of concrete interventions to address short, medium and long-term challenges and bottlenecks.
